Musculoskeletal (MSK) diagnostic Ultrasound is an injury assessment modality that uses sound waves to create images of painful or injured areas in the body. Musculoskeletal Ultrasound is now emerging as an affordable alternative to MRI. Ultrasound imaging is safe, non-invasive and without risk. It can also be used on patients when MRI is contraindicated. There is no radiation involved and can be used repeatedly if clinically necessary. The practitioner who will carry out the ultrasound scan is Paul McDermott, BSc (Hons) Physiotherapist, who has also completed his PgCert MSK in Ultrasound Imaging.
